poco pci hickups

I have been using a poco pci for as long as I can remember (well, sort of).
Unfortunately, ever since win10 came to my computer I am experiencing problems which, I suspect, have to do with some sort of problem in the pci bus.
I get drop-outs occasionally, and plugins change their status to unlicensed. Reload, and they work again.

As I said, I think there's some setting in the pci handling that cause this behaviour.
Can anyone point me to a possible (or, even better, rock solid) solution? Where to look?

thanks, Joseph

Whats new

4.5 b72: (P/OS 4.4.0f46)

  • macOS

    • fixed regression in b71 leading to instability and sluggish behaviour

  • Windows

    • no changes - same as b71

Some hints to make a successful installation:
  • Backup any separately installed TC plugins! They might get overridden

  • Supported OS versions are macOS 10.8.3 and later (with 64bit kernel) and Windows 7 SP1 + KB3033929 and later (with 32bit and 64bit kernel)

  • macOS: If updated from a previous PowerCore 4.5 installation a reboot is required!

  • Windows: Please ensure that you have recently updated your system (otherwise certificates needed to check if the driver is correctly signed could be outdated leading to "device cannot start").

  • All PowerCore Firewire versions are supported, PCIe, PCI MkII and Classic PowerCore PCI are supported.

Known issues:
  • PowerCore/PCIe and PCI MkII do not work with Apples thunderbolt update to the PCIFamily.kext included in macOS 10.8.4 and later

PCI mk1 and PCI mkII difference questions

Hi,

This is mostly for hagen@TC, but someone else who knows, could answer too. smile
Firstly, I am a long time PowerCore user and I'm still using it and will be using for many years to come. My questions are based on Mac OS 10.9.4 though:

1. What are the main differences between the mk1 and mk2 cards apart from the size? Is there differences in the DSP?
2. Why is the mk1 working on PCI expansion chassis, but mk2 is not?
3. Is there a way to drive a software update for mk2 card to make it work along with mk1?
4. My OS is 10.9.4 at the moment, with 10.8 kext hack. I'm planning to upgrade my OS to 10.11 or above, will my PCI mk1 still work?

I'm looking forward to your answers and I'm really looking forward to upgrade my system, since my work require it. I'm a AudioUnit / VST developer and producer as well, so I have to have my development environment up-to-date. I would honestly like to contribute the unofficial development of the driver / software with you guys. I really love the platform and I'm not going to sell my powercores, ever. Is there a way to contribute, I mean real C++ / GIT, not just reports?

I will start another thread, where I will post my working setup and have it updated at all time. From my end at least wink

D-Coder & Using PCI express bridges

$

Hi,

I recently got an ASROCK PCI express to pci bridge, which allowed me to free up a PCI slot by moving my old PCI RME to the ASROCK.

This has allowed me to put in an old PCI powercore I have with the D-Coder licence into my Windows machine.
Alas, I cannot get anything much out of the d-coder as a vocoder.

Does anyone know if I am wasting my time trying to get it working?

Also the ASROCK and the powercore PCI did not seem to get along - are there bridges that work with a Powercore PCI mark 2 on Windows?

Edited - sorry, my post got completely stripped...

Hi Hagen, I'm suddenly getting the dreaded message "The process synchronization between the Plug-In and the PowerCore driver failed. To reactivate the PowerCore plugin, save your project first and reopen it to continue to work.    auxhost    2016 M11 8 16:44:34"

This just started happening a few days ago. I'm not sure why. I'm only using the Powercore for my Access Virus/Virus Multi-out. I've tried installing/reinstalling/uninstalling/etc.

Mac OS X
Yosemite 10.10.5
CPU=GenuineIntelNumCPU=4, 2900MHz, 32768MByte
PowerCore System=4.4.3
PowerCore Bundle=4.4.3
Kernel Extension=4.5.0b100
Control Panel=4.4.3f62

PowerCores in the system:
1. PowerCore X8 (7021707-077218-23), Firmware=3.0.003, DeviceOS=4.4.0f44

Model Name:    iMac
Model Identifier:    iMac13,2
Processor Name:    Intel Core i5
Processor Speed:    2.9 GHz
Number of Processors:    1
Total Number of Cores:    4
L2 Cache (per Core):    256 KB
L3 Cache:    6 MB
Memory:    32 GB
Boot ROM Version:    IM131.010A.B08
SMC Version (system):    2.11f14

I'm using Digital Performer 9.1. I've tried multiple buffer/multiplier settings, both within DP and the control panel, to no avail. The plugins are bridged using JBridgerM. The X8 is connected via FW400=>TB connector, and everything was working great...

I'd appreciate any help!

I'm looking to sell my pcie powercore with a VSS3 and NonLin2 licenses included for $80 + shipping.
Transfer of ownership would be an extra $30. Or i could just transfer the account....?
